West End Intimacy: A Stunning Bothy Glasgow Wedding
Searching for a Bothy Glasgow wedding photographer? You likely know this venue is one of the city’s best-kept secrets..
Tucked down Ruthven Lane, The Bothy (https://bothyglasgow.co.uk/) is perfect for personal, low-key weddings. It is the ultimate spot to ditch big productions.
Jemma & Ross wanted a day like a massive family dinner. They just added better outfits and more champagne.
As a local Glasgow wedding photographer, I knew this venue offered the perfect shabby-chic charm.
There was no room for stiff traditions. We had heartfelt vows, happy tears, and the West End bustling outside.
Afterward, we grabbed some West End Glasgow wedding photography around Ashton Lane’s cobbled streets.
Hillhead’s character is a perfect backdrop. You definitely don’t need a grand estate here!
We dodged puddles and shared laughs. I captured some of my most natural, relaxed portraits ever. (Just none of Jemma threatening to burst me for taking her out in the rain, sorry!)
Back at the venue, the “Bothy magic” kicked in. The food was incredible (seriously, some of the best in Glasgow) and the wine flowed. The intimate space made speeches feel like a chat between pals. Small weddings are truly legendary.
Jemma, Ross – Cheers for letting me be part of your wee Glasgow party. It was pure dead brilliant!

The Insider’s Guide to a West End Glasgow Wedding
Planning your big day at The Bothy means you are right in the heart of Glasgow’s most iconic neighbourhood. As a local Bothy Glasgow wedding photographer, I’ve spent years scouting the best nooks and crannies. Here is how to make the most of the area:
- The Best Photo Spots: While Ruthven Lane is class, the obvious choice is usually Ashton Lane for those classic fairy-light shots – but be prepared for it to be mobbed! Sadly the University of Glasgow cloisters might be a bit more grand and “Harry Potter-esque”, but you can only get photos if you are married there, boooo!
- The Post-Ceremony Pint: If you want to slip away for a quick drink while your guests head to the dining room, The Ubiquitous Chip or Jinty McGuinty’s are West End institutions just around the corner.
- Hidden Gems: For gritty, urban portraits, the street art around Byres Road and the colourful shop fronts of Dowanside Road offer a brilliant contrast to the rustic interiors of The Bothy.
Whether you’re planning a tiny elopement or a 50-person feast, the West End provides a backdrop that is pure Glasgow!
