Small intimate wedding venues in Scotland

Unique small Glasgow Wedding. Let’s be honest – Covid and the Lockdowns were rubbish. Necessary, but rubbish! Every cloud has a silver lining, and one of the best things to come out of it was all the inventive weddings folk were coming up with! Case in point, Roisin’s wedding to Michael with a party in her Maw n Da’s back garden! Yas!

The day started off at Rock N Rollers hairdressing on Pollokshaws road, literally minutes from the Roisin’s mum’s house. Once the Do’s were done it was back up the road to meet Cat Robertson MUA and get wedding-ready!

Roisin’s Dad was one of the sweetest guys ever – So much so that he came in to say hello to Roisin mid make-up and cried! He had one of the coolest wedding outfits I’ve ever seen too, just a total hero.

We then moved to St. Helens, Langside where I met the groom, Michael. He was wearing a Great Kilt, this was the first time in my life I’d ever seen a great kilt and it well and truly lived up to its name. For those who don’t know, a great kilt is “The Great Kilt was a near-universal garment in the Highlands from the sixteenth century to the early part of the eighteenth. Traditionally, the Great Kilt was simply a large piece of cloth, held together with a belt and folded in precise ways.” – But to be honest, the photos say more than I ever could, so check it out below!

Once the ceremony was over the whole wedding crew walked back to Roisins parent’s house – Honestly, seeing a full wedding party parade back up Pollokshaws Road will forever be one of the best things I’ve ever seen at a wedding.

The garden party that followed was one that will go down as one of the Best. Food, Drink, Speeches, Dancing – Even though it might have been small, the atmosphere was electric. It was one of those weddings where I wish I wasn’t working! Absolutely amazing.

After the speeches, they all headed to The McMillan Bar + Chop House, Shawlands. I bid farewell to my new pals to let them enjoy the rest of their evening.

Honestly, what a wedding – Plenty more of these, please!

Special shout out to my pal Sarah of Joy Story fame too! She stepped in at the very last minute to assist – Had my Covid booster and was worried it was going to floor me. Thankfully it just felt like a mild hangover but always nice to have a pal along – Thank you, Sarah!
