23 Montrose Street, Glasgow • Kirsty & Craig – Intimate Wedding at The Bothy • March
If you are planning a micro-celebration, looking at small intimate weddings at The Bothy is the perfect place to finish. Kirsty and Craig skipped the typical big venues for a day focused entirely on good vibes, brilliant food, and their favourite people.
The day kicked off beautifully on March 7th with an elegant ceremony at the iconic Glasgow City Chambers. Afterwards, instead of a standard wedding car, we jumped into a stunning white wedding taxi! Heading to the West End in a classic cab felt incredibly chic, giving the day a relaxed city charm.
The timing could not have been better. The massive Scotland vs France Six Nations rugby match was happening, and the city energy was electric. While we were shooting portraits near Ashton Lane, a lovely French tourist completely photobombed us! Hilariously stopping to get her own photo! So I had to snap one of her obv. TRES BIEN MON CHERI!

By the time we stepped inside The Bothy, Scotland had clinched a historic 50–40 victory over France. The celebratory atmosphere outside Ashton Lane was mental, so we headed back to the quiet, cosy vibes of the Bothy before we got accosted again.
The private dining space hosted a beautiful candlelit dinner. Because the setting is wonderfully personal, the speeches felt deeply connected and full of authentic laughter. Kirsty and Craig’s day proved exactly why small intimate weddings at The Bothy are becoming the ultimate choice for stylish Glasgow couples. Cheers to the beautiful newlyweds!

The Bothy Glasgow FAQ’s
A: The Bothy is famous for its wonderfully intimate vibe. For smaller, micro-weddings, The Scullery (their private dining room) is perfect for up to 24 seated guests. If you are planning a slightly larger celebration, you can hire out the entire venue or the upstairs Brasserie, which can accommodate up to 70 guests for a sit-down meal or a lively evening reception.
A: You are absolutely spoiled for choice in the West End! Right outside the doorstep, the cobblestones and fairy lights of Ashton Lane offer that classic, atmospheric Glasgow look. For a bit of greenery, the Glasgow Botanic Gardens are just a 5-minute walk away. If you fancy a bit of urban grit and color, the vibrant lanes around Hillhead, the iconic subway entrance, or the red sandstone tenements of Dowanside Road make for incredible, authentic couple portraits.
A: Because it’s tucked away on the historic Ashton Lane, The Bothy doesn’t have its own private parking lot. However, there is a Lilybank Car Park just a 2-minute walk away on Bryanston Links/Lilybank Terrace, as well as pay-and-display street parking on the surrounding West End streets. For guests arriving from further out, Hillhead Subway Station is literally a 1-minute walk around the corner.
A: Think cozy, rustic, and effortlessly romantic. It features beautiful exposed brick, rich wood, and a relaxed Scottish charm that means you don’t need to spend a fortune on heavy decor—the venue already has so much character. It’s the ultimate spot for couples who want to skip the stuffy wedding traditions, focus on incredible Scottish food, and enjoy a laid-back day with their closest favorite people.
A: Not at all! This is Glasgow—we expect a bit of drizzle. The beauty of The Bothy is that its indoor spaces are incredibly moody, warm, and full of texture, which look amazing in photographs. If it rains, we can lean into the cozy indoor atmosphere, use the covered spots along Ashton Lane, or grab a couple of clear umbrellas and brave the elements for some epic, authentic rainy-day shots.
