This was my first time shooting at Kinkell Byre , it has been on our bucket list for quite some time and it did not disappoint.  A gorgeous space that’s perfect for barn, rustic style weddings for relaxed couples. You know it has to be pretty special when Katie and Mark travelled over 11,000 miles from New Zealand back home to Scotland to celebrate.

One thing immediately springs to mind when you compare New Zealand to Scotland – The Weather! Getting married in January has its risks and true to form it was blowing hooley! The famous Scotland 4 seasons in one day was in full swing but it didn’t dampen the spirits – The beauty of Kinkell Byre is how self contained it is, ceremony, reception, dinner and dancing all happen inside the barn, – each room is open plan and has a distinctive different feel despite being in the same location.

Linda Stewart was the humanist, she made the ceremony, personal, relaxed and fun – It suited Katie and Mark to a tee! Think the only word I can use to describe Katie during the whole Ceremony was buzzing – grinning from ear to ear (or from Scotland to New Zealand…)

Lazy Sunday handled the catering and served up some classic canapés (Haggis balls, yas!) as well as some more unusual ones (Mushroom soup in a glass tube?! p.s. it was delicious) and went down an absolute treat. There was also a hot chocolate stand (With Amaretto, Biscuits and Marshmallows….) and a table for Port & Cheese! You know the catering is 5 star when the biggest paragraph is about the food (There’s photos below….) – Back to the wedding!

The pair braved the wind and rain to get some epic shots on the beach – despite the harsh weather conditions we will always love shooting in Scotland, always!

Back to their guests for some well needed mingling and chatting and then onto Dinner – But the tranquility was broken by the sound of an irate Italian woman! The owner of the venue had clashed with the chef for today and began arguing … through song! Much to ours and everyones surprise there was some singing waiters, what a relief and what a laugh – The pictures say more than I ever could but these guys were ace – Singing Waiters – SOS

After all that insanity it was back to the cake cutting and first dance – Tonights band were the incredible Papa Shandy and The Drams – seriously, these guys are something else. An unbelievable 6 piece band playing all sort of classics pop music, chart music, ceilidh and mash ups, the dance floor was jumping all night.

Thanks a million to Neil Thomas Douglas for bringing me along to 2nd shoot and a huge thanks to Mark & Katie for such an awesome start to weddings in 2020!

Enjoy!
